Following the biggest win of his career with a 12 second knockout over Jon Fitch at UFC 141, Johny Hendricks is now set to take on Fitch’s longtime American Kickboxing Academy teammate Josh Koscheck. The welterweights are set to square off at UFC on FOX 3, which takes place at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey on May 5th.
In December, Hendricks (12-1) was the first fighter to ever finish Jon Fitch in the UFC. The knockout won him his second career “Knockout of the Night” award. Prior to that, he also defeated Mike Pierce, Charlie Brenneman, and Amir Sadollah. The All-American wrestler from Oklahoma State now sports a 7-1 record in the UFC.
Koscheck (17-5) is coming off a split decision win over Mike Pierce earlier this month at UFC 143. He is now 2-0 since making his return to the Octagon following the broken orbital he suffered against Georges St. Pierre at UFC 124 in December 2010.
Koscheck will be fighting the first time following his departure from American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, California. The camp for other notable fighters such as Cain Velasquez, Daniel Cormier, and Luke Rockhold; Koscheck started training there in 2006, following his appearance on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter.
UFC on FOX 3 will be headlined by a lightweight battle between Nate Diaz and Jim Miller.
