Earlier we reported about the UFC on Versus 4 card taking shape, and the card just got another addition, as MMAJunkie.com has reported that Nate Marquardt and Anthony Johnson have verbally agreed to meet this June. The fight is expected to be the main event on a card that features the featherweight debuts of Tyson Griffin and Joe Stevenson, as well as a clash between Martin Kampmann and John Howard.
Anthony Johnson just recently returned to action at UFC Fight Night 24, where he defeated Dan Hardy by unanimous decison. Johnson, who is known to be the largest fighter in the welterweight division, will face his toughest challenge to date as Marquardt has been one of the top ranked middleweights for many years.
Marquardt has been talking about a possible move to the welterweight division for sometime now, as he explained that a new, cleaner diet has made his weight cut much easier. He's also fought some of the best in the world, including a 2007 title shot against reigning middleweight champion, Anderson Silva. As a UFC middleweight, he holds notable victories over Dean Lister, Martin Kampmann, Thales Leites, Demian Maia, and most recently, Dan Miller.
UFC on Versus 4 is scheduled to take place June 26th at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
