Anthony Johnson Cut After UFC 142 Loss

Anthony Johnson has been released by the UFC after losing by first-round submission to Vitor Belfort in the co-main event of UFC 142 on Saturday night, one day after missing weight by 11 pounds for what was scheduled to be his middleweight debut.

“We’re probably going to cut Anthony Johnson,” UFC President Dana White said in an interview after the event on Fuel TV before confirming Johnson had already been released to MMAJunkie.

Johnson (10-4), who spent his first 10 UFC fights at welterweight, was coming off wins over Dan Hardy and Charlie Brenneman and had won five of his last six bouts, but missed weight 3 times for his 11 UFC fights, leaving him likely to be released without a win over Belfort.

this is no shocker one time is fine but this consistently happens and its unprofessional

yea they coulda made him fight 205 exclusively, then if he jaggs that then cut him. but if the guy had medical issues and when down to 185 his legs went numb so the doctor said to re-hydrate him, u would think he could get 1 more shot.

they probably was suspect of the story cause he use to cut to 170, so idk. 12 pounds is ridiculous though. and if hes telling the truth that means the ufc should have known about this in the beginning of the week. it seemed like dana and vitor only found out hours before the weigh in. atleast that how it looks on dana's video blog i posted earlier.

he comes in overweight at 170 ok lets move him up to 185 he cant make that he has missed weight 3 times if he gets his shit together fights at lhw i would love to see him back in the ufc but he disrespected vitor by not holding up his end of the deal that was signed it was a mw fight not a lhw fight lol
