Shane Carwin opponent for UFC 131 Announced

he mystery behind Shane Carwin’s next opponent is finally over. UFC president Dana White announced Wednesday the former interim heavyweight champ will make his highly anticipated return against Octagon rookie Jon Olav Einemo at UFC 131.

Carwin was confirmed for the June 11th fight card many moons ago, but his impending foe had been kept under lock and key until today.

Carwin owns an impressive 12-1 professional record, with all of his wins coming before the final horns have sounded. He was last seen getting submitted by Brock Lesnar at UFC 116 in July 2010.

The charismatic 36-year-old has been recovering from a January back surgery.

Olav Einemo is a Brazilian jiu jitsu specialist that has compiled a 6-1 MMA record. He is the only man to defeat multiple-time BJJ champ Roger Gracie in the Abu Dhabi Combat Club tournament.

The UFC inked the up-and-coming heavyweight earlier this month.

UFC 131 is expected to take place inside the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Good news:
Olav is 6 foot 6 monster, big reach, and a master on the ground a la Roger Gracie and even defeated Roger in a BJJ tourney. He can give trouble for Carwin if this fight hits the ground.

Bad news:
Olav hasnt fought MMA in 5 years. He is 6-1 but dont be fooled, his last fight was 5 years ago. That's ring rust to another level for you .. And this might look really bad with Carwin's TDD, and Olav's limited striking arsenal, this could be a very bad fight for him.

all he does is take people down, thats cool, schaub is better, more well rounded, better striker, better bottom game, brock is a way better wrestler and uses his size and speed really well give schaub mir then another top 5 hw i think schaub can beat brock

I think Schaub could beat Mir, and Brock, but i dont think he can take Shane Carwin, or Cain.... maybe he could beat JDS by KO, but only at the end of the third round after he gets beat bad.....

But still Schaub has to be one of the best out of the A- fighters or B+

Schaub is decent, but he's not on that level yet. He was just in trouble with CC. Early 2nd rd he starts shooting for td's. And we all know CC is not throwing to much of anything. It took all night for him to throw the left kick and he didnt really find his rythem till the 3rd rd, which he went in winning (19-18) because of the point deduction.
