Chael Sonnen can finally put some of his troubles behind him as the U.S. District Court handed down it's punishment for Sonnen's guilty plea from a 2006 money laundering case.
According to MMAFighting.com, U.S. attorney's office spokesperson Gerri Badden said that on Friday, Sonnen was sentenced to 24 months probation, a $10,000 fine, and forfeiture of his real estate license as a result of his plea from January.
Sonnen has been making the MMA News for quite sometime due to these legal problems, and problems with the Nevada State Athletic Commission, more specifically Keith Kizer. Due to these issues, the UFC temporarily froze Sonnen's contract in order to give him time to sort everything out. With this chapter of his life closed, he can now concentrate on his fighting career, but another hurdle still remains, as he still needs to reapply for a license to fight again.
