Undefeated middleweight Chris Weidman will take the place of Michael Bisping and meet Demian Maia on short-notice on the main card of next Saturday’s UFC on Fox 2 event, UFC President Dana White announced on Tuesday.
Earlier today, Bisping replaced an injured Mark Munoz in a number one contender’s bout against Chael Sonnen that co-headlines the January 28 event in Chicago.
Weidman (7-0) is 3-0 in the UFC with wins over Alessio Sakara, Jesse Bongfeldt, and Tom Lawlor since debuting last March, while Maia (15-3) topped Jorge Santiago in October to rebound from a loss to Munoz with his third win in his last four fights.
UFC on Fox 2 is headlined by light heavyweight contenders Rashad Evans and Phil Davis.
