Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem, who will face Fabricio Werdum in Saturday's headlining bout, discusses his opponent, as well as his time away from mixed martial arts. Overeem admits that his loss to Werdum in 2006 was one that has stuck with him, but says he doesn't need that as motivation to defeat the Brazilian.
Overeem last defended his title at Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery, defeating Brett Rogers via first-round TKO. In the time since he has competed in and won the K-1 World Grand-Prix, which he then followed-up by knocking out former UFC prospect Todd Duffee to lay claim to the DREAM interim title. With a total of three Championships to his name, "The Reem" will look to add the Strikeforce Heavyweight Tournament crown to his collection, starting with Saturday's quarterfinal elimination bout against Werdum.
