After years of failed attempts to get EA Sports behind the UFC brand and three UFC Undisputed games on THQ, UFC President Dana White has finally gotten his wish.
Live during the company’s keynote at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, an announcement regarding the new EA MMA was expected, but when a UFC video package aired, minds were blown.
White was then welcomed on-stage to annonce that the deal had finally been made. EA Sports will be taking over the franchise in 2013.
“This is a big day for EA sports. This is a huge day for the UFC, a huge day for the fighters, and more importantly a spectacular day for the fans,” said the UFC president. While the specifics of the deal have yet to be made public, the promotion has now partnered with the world’s premier sports gaming company. Responsible for such juggernaut brands as Madden NFL, NBA Live, and FIFA Soccer, the future of the UFC’s star in the gaming market certainly seems brighter than ever.
