A light heavyweight matchup between Glover Teixeira and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is on tap for UFC 153 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Brazilian Sports news site Globo first reported the matchup.
Jackson was originally supposed to face Mauricio “Shogun” Rua this summer before electing to have a knee surgery he reportedly needed prior to UFC 145. The embattled fighter will now finish out his UFC career against the talented prospect that Rua declined to fight.
Teixeira destroyed Kyle Kingsbury in his UFC debut at UFC 146. The tough prospect dealt with visa issues for years and is now ready to make a run in the light heavyweight division.
UFC 153 takes place October 13 live from the HSBC Arena in Rio. Pending the destination of UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos’s rematch with Cain Velasquez, the Teixeira vs. Jackson match will either headline or co-headline.
